In Loving Memory

I read your touching obituary in the Tribune and it broke my heart. I too recently lost my 26-year-old, beautiful, loving, talented, creative son. He was on his way to an AA meeting at the Alano Club when he was struck and killed by a TRAX train. He was sober at the time, but struggled for many years with alcohol. I love your son's beautiful smile in the obit photo and hearing about his life. I have had many profound experiences since my son's passing that have convinced me that he is still around in spirit and I will see him again. I hope this is of some comfort to you. Peace be with you.

Bob and Mary I am so sorry to read Brandon's obituary. I can just see him in Newman Center's Religious Education classes. He always had a way of making me laugh. Parents should not have to bury a child. My prayers and love are with you.

My condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one. Losing someone you love is truly difficult and I know Brendan will be missed. Please know our Heavenly Father holds out promises that can help us with our sorrow. One such promise is that death soon will be done away with forever (Revelation 21:4) and another promise is that "there is going to be a resurrection." (Acts 24:15) I pray these promises from God, who cannot lie, (Titus 1:2) bring you comfort.

To the Gilchrist family, you don't know me, but I knew your son Brendan because we worked at the same establishment, at one time he was always, helpful and charming will always ask if I needed anything when he was going on lunch breaks, he was always respectful and kind, I was saddened to hear of his passing, may your family have the comfort you need at this trail time and may brendan be at rest until he meets his maker in heaven. Amen

I am a stranger, but I want to thank you for your honesty about the struggles of your son. Your mention of Odyssey House indicates a bit of the support you tried to offer him. Your openness will help more parents than you will ever know.

Dear Gilchrist Family, I just wanted to let you know that I care about your sorrow. It is so hard to lose a family member...a hole that never quite gets filled back in. I pray the blessings of the Lord can give you peace in this difficult time. I was the hygienist at Dr. Smith's office until I retired.
