In Loving Memory

Dear Shirley and family, I just learned of Tom's passing. My deepest sympathy to all of you. I have lost a great friend and supporter of our efforts in Tanzania. Tom and I shared many passions and values such as rotary international and our love for the African people. He was a partner in all we have accomplished. Wend Schaefer, M. D. Tom was the most incorrigible humanitarian I ever met. He and I fished the same streams in Tanzania and Uganda. I have stories, as I am sure all of you do, that should wind up in a book some day. There was this time Tom, Pat and I crossed Lake Victoria (Ukewere to Africans) on the MV Victoria... He was a good friend. He loaned me a thousand dollars cash on a hand shake when Tanzania found my currency "outdated". My two favorite memories of Tom are his sneaking candy to the kids (if they promised to pick up the wrappers) and the "Satellite War with the Maryknollers". He was a good and controversial humanitarian. God rest his soul!!!

Dear Shirley, I'm saddened to hear that Tom died. I enjoyed Tom and you both as clients in the 1990s, and he was an expert witness at a couple of trials for me in the late 1980s. Tom's zest for life, the medical trips to Africa and the Fighting Irish were infectious. I've missed associating with you both since you moved to Arizona. My condolences to you and your children. Sincerely, John Simmons

My condolences to your family. May the promise found at Revelation 21:3-4 give you some comfort for your great loss.
