In Loving Memory

Our hearts ache for Tommy's family, Kathleen and the children and his dear little sis Jen and Wendy and all of the family we never met. We met Tommy when he came to visit his Grandma Caroline, our friend and neighbor. We loved this family and whenever we would see Tom we all had big smiles on our faces. He brought joy to us and he will be greatly missed. We mourn with you.

Dear T, We found your grocery list for a barbeque you were planning last weekend. Chicken wings, celery and blue cheese were on the menu. Your chicken wings were so delicious. You wanted to celebrate a friend and make them feel special. You were really good at making people feel special and loved. You did this in many different ways, but cooking for your friends and family made you so happy. You also got much joy out of planning an adventure. I’ll never forget our trip to Moab. We had rented two side-by-sides and were staying in cabins on a campground. Kathleen and I kept eyeing the nice hotel next door but you weren’t having it. You took us to Arches National Park, which is the most awesome sight I have ever seen. We did some hiking, off-roading, and swimming in the pool. In the mornings, you would get up early before anyone else and cook us all breakfast on the cast iron. This is just one example of the many great times you have brought to the people you love. This week I have heard countless stories of sporting events, concerts, camping trips, and Saturdays on the field supporting the kids. Tom, everyone that has ever spent time with you has a story. An unforgettable memory of enjoying life through nature, each other’s company, music, a fire, a hike, a bike ride and most certainly laughter. Your fun-loving personality was contagious. You would walk into a room and light it up with your smile. You chose depth over breadth of life’s journey. My big brother...my heart is broken in a way that I cannot even explain. You have left us way too soon. We all had so many plans. You so badly wanted to get us out to Utah again and show us more of the grande beauty. I want you to know that being here in Sandy has helped me feel close to you. The view from your chair on the hill is absolutely breathtaking. The mountains rise high to the sky and the deer are graciously passing through your yard. I am truly in awe of this place you chose for your family. The kids are thriving and enjoying the wide open spaces you favored. I will find strength in knowing you have left a beautiful mark on this Earth. You will live on in my heart and the hearts of all who loved you. I feel like you have said to us, “the mountains are calling and I must go.” Rest in peace, TJ. Love always, Jenny Pies

I'm a member of Tommy's high school graduating class. He was a funny guy and always had a smile. I am glad we were able to reconnect years later through Facebook. A key member of the class of '96 is gone, but he left us with some wonderful memories. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and his circle of friends now and in the days ahead. May God bless you and give you strength now and always.
