In Loving Memory

Dear Laurel and Family, It’s with heartfelt sadness I write this message. My thoughts and prayers have been with you often the past couple weeks. Your family is truly wonderful and we loved having you as close neighbors in the Valley View area. Ric was a great leader and taught my sons in Young Men’s and Scouting. He was a humble yet spiritually strong man, considerate and always asking how my boys were. We have many treasured memories and blessed our paths in life crossed. Memories of a loved one remain in the heart; they are never lost but live forever. May heaven shower your family with blessings during the challenging time. Much love, from the Lingren Family

Dear Smith Family, We were shocked and so saddened to hear about Ric's unexpected passing and heartbroken for Laurel and his children. We remember so well several get togethers at the Mount Air cabin and other places and seeing Ric and Laurel just before they were married. After reading his obituary I can see we did not know the half of all that he accomplished and sounded like such a good dad, husband and an adventurous spirit. Please know that we respect and appreciate knowing your family and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this hard time. All the best, Scott and Karen Ogden

Dear Laurel and Family, I have put off writing this for several days because I knew it would then be real. I can't express how sad I am to hear of Ric's death. He was a wonderful boss and friend to me and my family. He gave me a job that allowed me to still take care of my children. He always put his family first and encouraged me to do the same. Ric genuinely cared about the people he interacted with as a case manager and nurse. The skills in Utilization Review and Case Management that he helped me develop have served me well for many years in being able to provide for my family and help others. Ric always asked about my children and even my youngest daughter, Nicole, remembers how kind he was to her when she would visit me at the office. I think she even came to your home and played with Thayne when they were very young. We are sincerely sorry for your loss and pray for the comfort and peace only the Lord can provide. With sad hearts, Shelly and Gil Parkin and daughters Jessica, Samantha, Cassandra and Nicole

We were devastated to hear the news and just feel so much for Laurel and the kids. I didn’t know Ric well but remember visiting your family in your beautiful home and seeing all that you’ve built together. His legacy will live on there in each of you. All my sympathy and love Raimo has mourned this loss since hearing of it a few days ago— his heart is broken for you. We are thinking of you and praying for you. Love, Jessica & Raimo Laitinen and family
