In Loving Memory

Over the past few years, I had the opportunity to become acquainted with Camille. Her optimism and determination was an inspiration to me. During the time I knew her, she had some very serious health challenges. She had a couple of bad falls that resulted in her having to be hospitalized and spend some time in physical rehab. On rare occasions, she would grumble a bit, but for the most part, through these tough times she maintained a positive outlook. She didn’t like the situation, but she was determined to get better and always had a hope for better things to come. One day I told her that she reminded me of the mythical bird the Phoenix. She asked me why, and I said “Just like the Phoenix would always rise again and become “reborn,” you have the ability to recover and keep going…and you never give up.” I admired her fighting spirit and her positive attitude. And I am thankful that I could get to know her for a few brief years.
