First of all, let me say how deeply sorry I am for the loss of your son, brother and friend. I live two doors down from the intersection and was one of the first to arrive at the scene. While all of the shock and chaos was going on, I found myself just staring at Fernando's car. I became transfixed. Slowly, the panic went away I and was eventually overcome with a sense of calm and deep sadness. The longer I stared, the deeper my calm settled in. I hoped that wherever Fernando was now venturing, that it would be a swift and loving transition. And in my heart of hearts, I believe that it was.
