Anne Scibor Smith, 63 of Sandy Utah passed away after complications of multiple heart surgeries at the University of Utah Hospital, Tuesday February 27, 2018 with her loving family at her side. She was born July 20, 1954 in Chicago Illinois to Adam Scibor and Leona Romel Scibor.  Anne attended high school in Chicago Il, graduating from Mother McAuley High School, She continued her education, she had undergrad degree from Southern Illinois University.  She married Steve Coats in 1979 in Chillicothe, Il.  Anne had her only child, Rachelle in 1980.  Anne wanted to move out west she loved the mountains and outdoors, so they moved to Salt Lake City in 1984.  They divorced in 1985.  She married Michael "Mickey" Smith in 1989 at Snowbird Resort.   In 1997 she received a Master in Education from the University of Phoenix.  Anne was a School Counselor for 17 years in the Murray School district, her primary school was Longview Elementary.  Anne also worked for Intermountain Healthcare for 13 years as Assessment Counselor in Triage.  Anne loved her worked and was dedicated to providing her students and clients the tools, coping skills and techniques to allow them to function and change their lives. 

Anne is survived by her husband Mickey; her daughter Rachelle (Brandon) Allen; her two grandsons Kristian "Kit" Cook and Brody Allen; sister Veronica "Ronnie" (Elliot) Waldman; and her dog Dakota.  Anne's family was the love of her life.  

Anne's will be deeply missed.  She was a fun loving, free spirit.  She had so many friends.  She was always busy with outdoor activities, church groups, and family.  She loved traveling, hiking, skiing, biking, paddleboarding, making art, decorating, and being with her friends and family.  She was always so welcoming, and generous to all. She loved boating at Flaming Gorge, where she had her big boat and spent the better part of the past 16 summers there. She was a creative thinker. A unique and dedicated woman.   Her Oregon house really brought out her creative side.  Always making art or jewelry or painting when not walking the coast or hiking. She love the Oregon Coats and wanted to share it with all of us.  

Since retiring in 2016 Anne's latest passion was Yoga.  She received a certification from Westminster College and was teaching some classes.  She had always loved Yoga, the mind, body and spirit connection.  She closed her clases with ""May you and I and all living beings be free of anger. May all hearts be full of love."- Namaste

She was a very devout Catholic and strong in her faith.  She loved serving the church.  She was Saint Thomas More Woman of the year in 2010-2011, She was very active in the Ladies of Saint Thomas More, DCCW and Salt lake Deanery throughout the year, holding multiple positions and serving on many committees.  She attended Bible study, lectored for Sunday mass once a month and she was a eucharistic minister.

We are very proud of all her accomplishments and her life.  We are devastated that she had to leave us so soon.  But we will honor her and she will live on in our memories and hearts.  She was a wonderful person, like no other.  The best wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could ever imagine.  Until we meet again. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 5pm at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights.   A celebration of life to follow in the church hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Relief Services in Anne's name.
