Lois Anne Wells

"Randy"

Randy first lost her memories and then her life to the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease. Mother to two daughters.  Nurse at the VA and the U of U Medical Center.  Major in the Utah National Guard.  Race car driver, Stock (British Leyland MGB) and Rally (Navigator Position). Lover of all genres of music, except the Punk her daughters played in the ‘80s.  Sailing enthusiast.  Hiker and lover of Millcreek Canyon. Avid reader, especially spy novels.  Fan of British Comedy.  There is too little space here to describe a life so full.

The greatest gift Randy gave the world was to show by example and teach her daughters to respect all humans regardless of their level of ability, race, religion, sexual orientation or social position.  The greatest love of her life was her five grandchildren.

Randy, with her second husband, Dax Cowart, worked hard to ensure a patient's right to die with dignity.  This fight is still unfinished.  What dignity she was able to maintain was due in large part to the wonderful care she received in The Ridge Memory Care Unit, with special thanks to Diana.  Enough kind words cannot be written about Comfort Worx Hospice, with special thanks to Christian and Linda for their excellent and thoughtful care.

Randy is preceded in death by her beloved daughter Michelle Lenore Wells.  She is survived by her daughter and son in law Tory and Jim Magleby.  She is also survived by her favorite humans on the planet, her grandchildren, Rainey Cornaby, Austin Magleby, Zoey Magleby, Dylan Magleby and Tegan Magleby.  Not to be forgotten is her wonderful niece Christine Wells, who took an active role in her care.

As per her request there will be no service.  At a later date, Randy's ashes will be spread near those of Michelle.

If you would like to do something to honor Randy please donate to a service that helps homeless youth, like Volunteers of America, Utah. Or donate to a group that gets kids out in nature like the YMCA Camp Roger Scholarship Fund, or Red Butte Gardens Summer Camp Scholarship fund.  Or listen to some music outside your comfort zone.  Or buy your favorite dessert and invite some friends over to share it.
