Sylvia Schultz

Our dear sweet sister, aunt, and friend, Sylvia Schultz, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 after a long battle with several health issues. Sylvia was born on September 27, 1939 in Manti, Utah to Henry Lee and Christie Nielson Schultz. She spent her early years living in Pioche, NV after which her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she started school and eventually graduated from East High. She also attended the University of Utah.

Sylvia worked at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator and later at the Travelers Insurance Company. Travelers gave her the opportunity to work in many states and manage several offices in different regions of the country. She loved working at Travelers, especially meeting and making all of her lasting and meaningful relationships across the country and after 30 years, she  retired as Regional Vice President. Sylvia had a contagious laugh which she shared with everyone she met. She was a stranger to no one and enjoyed making many wonderful friends at the Ladies Literary Club. Her love of books and reading led her to make even more close and endearing friends in her monthly book club. She loved shopping especially for shoes and always thought if you found a great pair, you should buy one in every color.

She is survived by her sisters Marianna (Earl) Bolinder, Nancy Vaughn, and Christie Schultz, and a special sister the family adopted with love, Judy Lund and brother-in-law Max Valerio; nieces and nephews: Scott Bolinder, Michael (Kristin) Bolinder, Eric Bolinder, Becki (Steve) Christian, Amie (Mario) Salazar, Benjamin Valerio, and Joseph (Amy) Valerio, and eleven great nieces and nephews. Sylvia also leaves behind many, many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Valerio, niece Annalee Bickmore and brother-in-law David Vaughn.

A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building. A private family burial will take place on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Manti City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Wentworth Assisted Living and Brighton Home Health Hospice for their kind and loving care to Sylvia.

In lieu of flowers Sylvia would love it if you would take a day to go shopping and treat yourself to a new pair of shoes or a sparkly piece of jewelry. "Here's to us, who better!"
