Toula Poulos Souvall

Toula Poulos Souvall, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother (Yiayia), great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 96 on November 15, 2018. Born to Greek immigrant parents, John and Chrisula Poulos, on October 2, 1922 in Logan, Utah, she graduated from South High School in 1939. She met the love of her life, Andrew W. Souvall and they were inseparable. Toula and Andy were so excited to begin their lives together that they eloped and were later married at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on July 14, 1940. Andy made her a promise that life would always be an adventure, and it was.
Her family was her life. She raised three children and was completely adored by her grandchildren. great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Toula showered anyone who came in her presence with love and kindness. She was the consummate hostess, throwing parties for holidays, name days, birthdays and other special occasions. She was also the greatest example of strength until the very end.
She cherished her beloved Greek Orthodox Church, and was recently recognized by the Panahaikos Society for her countless years of membership. She had a generous spirit, sitting on many church committees and volunteering at several hospitals, including many years at Holy Cross in the maternity ward. She loved holding those babies!
Toula is survived by her brother and sister, George (Nedra) Poulos and Kula (Bill) Pippas; her children, Connie (Fred) Pantke, Cynthia (Gary) Nicolaysen and Bill Souvall; her five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andy; her parents; four siblings; and two beautiful grandchildren, Elyse Pantke White and John Nicolaysen.
Special thanks to all of the caregivers from Summit Hospice who cared for Toula at home, especially Makenna. Also, a very special thanks to her son, Bill, for being by her side.
