Larry N. Swasey

March 2, 1934 - December 19, 2018

Larry N. Swasey passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2018, after a long period of illness. Born in Roosevelt, Utah on March 2, 1934 to Joseph Hale and Elizabeth (Crawford) Swasey.

Larry left his Altamont home in 1957 to explore a new business adventure, other than ranching, in Salt Lake City. When asked what type of occupation he was in his reply was always, “I’m in oil.” Needless to say it wasn’t in “big oil”, meaning oil wells; rather, it was running service stations for various oil companies before owning and operating his own service station and mechanic business.

His love of dancing led him to the Ballroom Rainbow Rendezvous where he met his wife Toni of 58 years. Larry had quite the sense of humor, always responding to the question of how he was doing with, “Not too worse.” He was quite the sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting for many years, especially with his very dear pals. Going to Lake Powell with Larry was always an amazing adventure, and he was quite the water skier. He was also an avid reader.

Larry is survived by his loving, beautiful and devoted wife, Antoinette “Toni”; daughter, Lisa M. Logue (Ben); three grandchildren, his “Mugwamps” Andrew, Simon and Sally Logue, who are the light of his life. A sister, Merrilyn West; and a brother, Roger Swasey. He is preceded in death by his sisters Chelle Snyder and Joy Gillam.

A celebration of life will be held on January 3, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East in Salt Lake City.

The family would like to offer thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their support and care during Larry’s final year.
