Toni Stewart Trujillo Capson was born May 25, 1939, to K Verl and Beulah Vance Stewart in Fairview, Utah. She sadly passed away, December 21, 2018 in Herriman, Utah. Toni graduated from Bingham High School and LDS Business College. She married Andy Trujillo. They later divorced.
Toni worked for Granite School District and retired from the Utah State Board of Education. It was there that she met her best friend, Maurice Capson. They married in June, 1999 and shared a love of a lifetime. Together, they enjoyed traveling, visiting with family and friends, listening to music, bad jokes, and watching old tv programs. He sadly preceded her in death in February 2018.
Toni’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished the time she spent watching and cheering for the kids in all their activities. She seldom missed an event. She particularly loved family parties, living downtown and all that it offered, cheering for the Utes and Jazz, shopping with her girls, and lunch dates with “the sisters”.
Toni is survived by her children: Marcey and Wade Bennion, Lisa and Dave Steele, Kristi Hope and Dan Anderson, Karen Trujillo, Craig Trujillo. Loving grandchildren: Jason and Kristie Bennion, Michael and Nicole Bennion, Amber and Kyle Avery, Andy Steele and Whitney, Cameron Hope and Brandy, Anthony Trujillo, Emily Trujillo. Precious Great-grandchildren: Italya, Ryder, Parker, Sophie, Ellie.
She is also survived by Maurice’s children: Patrice Rowan, Michelle and Paul Adams, Gregory and Sue Capson, Christopher and Karen Capson, Sherman and Leslie Capson, Charlotte and Bruce Call. Toni and Maurice were blessed with a combined family of 10 children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that they loved dearly. Sister: Lexie Pollick, Brother: Jan Stewart; special in-laws: Rosana and Mike Warner, Bea Brennan, Lorene Swim, Michael and Kay Trujillo, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She is preceded in death by her beloved Maurice, parents, sister, Kova Stewart, in laws: George Pollick, Michael Brennan, Richard Trujillo, Toby and Pat Trujillo, Bob Rowan, ex husband, Andy Trujillo.
Toni spent her final months in the home of her sweet grandchildren, Amber, Kyle and beautiful great granddaughter Ellie. We are forever grateful for the loving companionship that they provided for her. She loved living there, bonding with Ellie and spoiling the dogs and cats. Waffles and Pancakes stayed lovingly by her side until the very end.
A special thank you to Holli, Doina, Kay, Jennifer, and all of the employees at her dialysis clinic for their help and friendship. Thank you to Heather and the staff at Heartwood Home Health for providing care to both Toni and Maurice.
A celebration of Toni’s life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. Toni and Maurice will be laid to rest together at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, at a later date.
We love you, mom. We will miss your quick wit, dry sense of humor, and your loving advice.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation or volunteer at your local school. Toni and Maurice helped so many with their educations.
