James Reed Stewart

August 24, 1937 - February 10, 2019

James (Jim) Reed Stewart (81) passed away after an illness on February 10, 2019 at The Abbington Senior Living Community in Holladay, Utah. Jim was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah, on August 24, 1937 to James R. Stewart and Ellen D. Stewart. Jim was the middle of three children and was a graduate of Olympus High School, in Holladay, Utah, Pacific Lutheran College in Parkland, Washington, and the Pacific Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California.

Jim was a life-long oil and water color artist and a sculptor. He was an avid collector of antiques. Jim was also a long-time teacher of art at Skyline High School and a counselor at Granger High School. Jim loved art, he loved teaching and counseling young people, and he loved traveling and his friends. He touched many lives.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Reed Stewart and Ellen Dahlstrom Stewart. Jim is survived by his older sister, Anne, his younger brother, Paul, and five nieces and nephews, Carla, Tim, Stewart, Jennifer, and Andrew.

Funeral services for Jim will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 am at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A luncheon will follow at Starks Funeral Parlor from 12:45 pm to 2:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to us the complimentary valet parking on the northside of the building. 

Interment with a brief graveside service to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Salt Lake Rescue Mission.
