Steven Gibson Mitchell

September 29, 1946 - May 20, 2019

Steven Gibson Mitchell passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2019.

Steve was born on September 29, 1946 in Salt Lake City to Betty Gibson Mitchell and James A. Mitchell. Steve served in the Army in the Vietnam War. He loved the outdoors and went on many hunting and fishing trips through the years with his dad and brother, Tony. His passion was golf. He loved getting out as often as possible with his uncle, Daryl, and his friends. He also enjoyed watching sports (including golf, basketball, and football) and movies in his theater room. Steve worked most of his life as a coin dealer. Throughout the years, he had several shops and often traveled the country going to various coin shows.

Steve loved spending time with his friends and family. He was kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He was a peacemaker and saw the best in everyone. He would bet people on just about anything and (most of the time) would make it so they won.

Steve is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his siblings, Kathleen, Stormy (Gary), and Tony (Trish). He also is survived by his daughter, Shellie, his son, Ryan (Michelle), his grandchildren, Amber, Brandon, and Braiden, his great-granddaughter, Aliyah, and his niece, Dustine. He is preceded in death by his mom and dad. He also is preceded in death by his and Cheryl’s long-time feline companion, Kitty.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.
