Josephine (Jo) Lingos Kelaidis

December 20, 1921 - October 4, 2019

Josephine "Jo" Lingos Kelaidis, 97 - born December 20, 1921 to Louis and Adelina Lingos passed away suddenly due to age related causes on Oct. 4, 2019.

Josephine was born in Salt Lake City, the second oldest of five children. She graduated from West High School and was very proud of her accomplishment of graduating from LDS Business College.

Josephine's life was not an easy one but she always did her best to provide for her family. Josephine was  a single mom to her 2 year old daughter Esther in the 1940's when assistance for single moms wasn't heard of. She would always tell the story of her adventures of riding 7 buses a day to take Esther to the nursery (day care) and then to work. Jo had various jobs throughout her career. She worked at the Department of Agriculture, as a seamstress (her least favorite), for Shell Oil Company with Mr. Wilbur and Fritzy and finally retiring from Glendale Federal Savings & Loan as a loan processor. She was amazed at her first computer at Glendale Federal, the computer literally filled a small room.

Josephine did not fulfill her lifelong dream of traveling the world, therefore per her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered on the ocean so the waves may carry her to all the places she would have loved to see. Josephine is proceeded in death by her mother and father, sister Helen, little sis Marina, baby brother Mike, son-in-law’s Richard and Tony. Survived by her sister Footie (husband John), her 3 children Esther, Mark & Tina, grandchildren David, Danny, Anthony, Eleni, Nikko, Mikal, Tia, Zak, Kyros and Sasha, great-grandchildren DJ, Gus-Gus, Vinny and Delilah.

A celebration of Josephine’s life will be on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.
