Steven Ralph Blake

Steven Ralph Blake peacefully passed away April 15, 2020.  Steve was born on June 8, 1947 to M. William and Joanne Blake in Salt Lake City, UT.  As a youth, Steve loved playing baseball and attending games at Dirk’s Field.  In his teens, he was a body-builder and an accomplished gymnast on the rings.  He also set the record at Olympus High School for distance walked on his hands.

Steve loved his family – always thinking about them and serving them.  He wrote many heart-felt letters expressing his love and appreciation.  He loved his nieces and nephews and whenever he saw them was eager to give them a small surprise.  Steve was known for having a funny sense of humor and always having a joke ready.  He loved spending time with his family and family BBQ’s were his favorite.

Steve was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  At one point in his life, he was a seminary teacher for youth with special needs.  He was also a devoted home-teacher, and cared greatly for those whom he served.  His passion, however, was temple-work.  He literally spent thousands of hours in service at the House of the Lord.  He had an unshakeable testimony and was always willing to share it with others.

Steve had many medical and mental health challenges throughout his adult life.  He handled them with grace and was always more concerned about others.  Our family is very grateful for the many professionals that helped Steve – most recently Rod Teal his case manager, his nurse Lindsey, and the staff at Alta Ridge Assisted Living Center.

He is survived by his mother; siblings – Rob (Sue), Janet (Jim) Jones, Nancy Davis, and Annie (Chris) Swan.  Preceded in death by his beloved father, and two nephews.

Steven will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Elysian Burial Gardens.
