“Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to be a certain way. Be UNIQUE. Be what you FEEL.”
Joann A. Cwik, December 2006

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, Joann Allen Cwik, 89, of Salt Lake City, retrieved her much earned heavenly wings on April 7, 2021.

She was born August 2, 1931 to parents Jay and Katherine Allen in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She met her forever love, Joseph C. Cwik, while vacationing in Hawaii - where Joseph was stationed with the Navy Air Group. They married in Chicago, Illinois, on August 31, 1957.

After marriage, life took them to Champagne-Urbana, IL (University of Illinois), Los Angeles (work), Yuma (work), Phoenix (work), Salt Lake City (work), Cedar City (work) - and back to Salt Lake City (retirement). The couple raised their three children in southern California and Utah.

Joann was actively involved in the Girls Scouts of Utah as a volunteer for over 50 years. During those years, she served in many roles with the Girl Scouts including Girl Scout troop leader and Girl Scout troop leader’s trainer.

She will be remembered as the Matriarch of her family and for her contagious laugh, how much she loved her family, her unconditional love and acceptance of everyone, forever positively affecting those who were lucky enough to be graced with her friendship, leadership and love.

Joann is survived by her husband and sweetheart, Joseph Cwik of Salt Lake City, son John Cwik of Las Vegas, daughter Katherine Cwik of Salt Lake City, and granddaughter Cassandra Jo Cwik of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Richard Cwik of Salt Lake City.

The Cwik family extends much gratitude for the loving, compassionate and supportive care provided by Heartwood Home Health and Hospice during the final months of Joann’s journey - specifically to Samantha, her Hospice Nurse, and Keiry, her Hospice CNA. We are forever thankful for their grace and kindness.
