Carolyn Rose Bowlden

February 25, 1941 - May 2, 2021

We are saying goodbye to our fun-loving mom, a supportive wife and a playful grandmother.

Carolyn Rose Bowlden passed away May 2, 2021 at the radiant age of 80. She was the light of her children’s lives, full of energy and love everyday. Carolyn was the love of Blaine’s life. Great-granddaughter of Mormon Pioneers, she exhibited the hearty toughness of a westerner and the kind-hearted lovingness of a woman who cared for everyone she knew. Open-hearted without judgement, she drew people together. She graduated from Murray High School and attended the University of Utah. Carolyn had a passion for nature and all living animals big and small, donating her time to the Hogle Zoo and Tracey Aviary. Some of Carolyn’s joys in life were boating with her family on Flaming Gorge, traveling, golfing, horseback riding on the range, playing the piano and organ for the church, synchronized swimming, cooking amazing meals for her family, and making the holiday warm and memorable.

Carolyn followed in the footsteps of her father’s love of sports, especially the Utes. She would hoot and holler, just ask the neighbors. She also had a strong bond with her father-in- law, James A. Bowlden.

She was the loving daughter of Paul and Katherine Rose who preceded her in death. Carolyn is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Blaine; her sister, Kathy and brother, Mark; five children; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. You’ll be greatly missed and in Dad’s own words “You sweet, cute girl.”

A casual gathering in the honor of Carolyn's life will be on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Masks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to Tracy Aviary by clicking the donate link above.
