Nicholas Paul Stubbs

Nicholas Stubbs passed away May 29, 2021 at the age of 36.

He was born on December 30, 1984, to Diane (McCollum) Perry and William Jeffery Stubbs. He grew up in Sandy, UT and Ogden, UT. He graduated from Bonneville High School and earned multiple awards for his artwork, including being awarded the Sterling Scholar.

Nick started drawing at an early age and quickly became passionate about art. We all realized quickly that he excelled at everything he did, including his art. His art was deeply personal and touched the lives of many. He spent hours at his desk bringing photos and other images to life or writing the thoughts that came from his heart. His niece admired his talent and began taking art lessons from him so she could be like Uncle Nick. Not to leave anyone out, Nick made time for all his nephews and nieces and made a special coloring book for each one of them that he drew himself.

Nick had a love and appreciation for the film industry and for a brief time wanted to become a director. As a teenager, he would spend many hours having movie marathons with his family and friends.

He also loved music and often found comfort through the lyrics of Kurt Cobain, Syd Barrett, Thom York, Jim Morrison, and Jeff Buckley. He taught himself to play guitar and wrote powerful music with deep meaning. As an adult, he joined a band with his friends and would occasionally play at open mic nights to share his talent with those of us lucky enough to hear.

He took on baking and filled the stomachs of his loved ones with his pursuit of the perfect flakey pastry and the perfectly barbequed pulled pork.

Nick loved deeper and more purely than anyone we know and touched the lives of everyone and anyone he met, but he shared a special bond with his sister Natalie long before any of us came to know him.

Nick is survived by his heartbroken family, Life companion and his person Brittany Lopez; Mother Diane (McCollum) Perry, stepfather Rick Perry, stepmother Cathy (Gibson) Stubbs; his sisters: Natalie Kreeck and husband Joshua, Emily Hepworth and husband John, and RaeAnah Stubbs; his brothers Jason Fifield and wife Marissa, and Nathan Stubbs and wife Jill. Nick was loved and adored by his six nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply: Norah Kreeck, Jack Kreeck, Chloe Hepworth, Ella Hepworth, Ivy Hepworth, and Kingston Fifield. He is preceded in death by his father William Jeffery Stubbs.
