Nora Mary Mancuso

May 12, 1936 - June 5, 2021

Nora Mary was born on May 12, 1936 outside the front of Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City in the the doctors car coming from Garfield, Utah. Her eventful birth made it to the local newspaper along with a photo of her mother and her.

Her father, Joseph Francis Humphreys was an immigrant from South Wales and her mother, Modesta Marie Keith was a Utah native. Her father died from an injury while working at Kennecott when she was not quite 5 years old. 

She attended Saint Mary’s, an all-girls Catholic school. She married Carmen Antonio Mancuso, Jr. July 2nd, 1953 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Nora become a very involved asset for the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah. She led many Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) classes over the years. She co-opened Mancuso’s Religious Goods with her husband in 1991. In 2011 she was vested as a Lady of the Equestrian order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with bishop Neiderauer and fellow Knights and Ladies and received the “Pilgrim Shell”. She was known to be an avid reader and loved to share her history. She spoke passionately about her faith, loved camping and gathering at the Defa Dude Ranch, and would leave a legacy of kindness and welcoming to all. 

Survived by Children, Cynthia John (William) & Tony Mancuso. Grandchildren, Justin, Tyler (Jessamy), Carmen (Marie), Nora, and Nicholas (Name); as well as nine great-grandchildren. Brother Joseph Humphreys (Sophie as well as many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by parents Joseph F Humphreys, Modesta M Keith, husband Carmen A Mancuso, sister’s Ann Kathleen Hernandez (Aleen), Modesta Ilene Patka.

A celebration of her life will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 S. 900 E., Monday, June 21st from 6:00 until 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 450 E. 2100 S. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 12:00 noon with burial following at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue & T Street. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nora’s name to St. Ann Church or Catholic Foundation of Utah.
