Matthew Steven Cooper
Matthew was born on July 18, 1995 in Murray, Utah to Jodi Lynne Brundage Cooper and Michael Steven Cooper. With heavy and broken hearts, Matthew passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah after fighting a short illness.
He graduated from Hunter High School in 2013. He went on to work different jobs, not quite finding his niche yet.
He loved his family and friends dearly. He loved playing video games online with friends, shooting guns, fishing, camping, creating gnome gardens, and cracking jokes. He loved the Denver Broncos. He was a peace keeper with everyone, hated conflict and absolutely adored his dog Koda. He loved his nieces and nephew and giving them bear hugs.
He had a brother-like relationship with Dallin Hyde, Michael Borrowman, and Stetson Adams. Without them Matthew would not have become the person he was. They brought out his goofy and infectious personality to its finest and loved him dearly.
He is survived by his parents; brother Nathan Cooper; sisters Shae (Chris) Healey and Ashley Nunley, nieces Saige, Alexis and Terra; nephew Christopher Jr., grandparents Judith Brundage, Michael Cooper, Gordon Holt, and many extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Eugene Brundage; uncles Robert and Kelly Brundage; grandma Nancy Holt; cousin Alex Cooper and older brother Colby Cooper.
A Celebration of Matthew’s life will be on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Casual dress is welcomed. Friends and family may gather on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor. He will be laid to rest at a private family graveside service at Elysian Burial Gardens.
