Karen Jean Buchanan (Ashdown) Dahn

January 6, 1940 - January 11, 2022
Born January 6, 1940 in Filer, ID to John V. and Mearl Beardslee Buchanan.  Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 11, 2022 from injuries sustained in a fall on January 4th.

She attended St. Anne's and West High Schools.

Karen had always been a hard worker.  Aurbach's and ZCMI as a teen.  She drove a coffee truck (with Candy in tow).  Karen's, the auto upholstery and body shop she owned and ran with Roy.  Our family owned business, Aurora Fire Protection.  Bysis/Crump and finally, a full time receptionist at UDOT where she was working at the time of her death.  She loved interactions with people and always had a smile and a joke for all.

Her favorite hobby was shopping.

Survived by her brother, Tim (Velda) Buchanan; daughter Candy (Andy) Bath; cherished grandchildren, Tiffany Hawthorne (Jayson), Chris (Amanda) Hawthorne and Austin (Nikki) Bath; great grandchildren, Briton, Easton, Tylee, Bridger, Lilly, Dylan and Hendrix.  Also cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved son, David LeRoy Dahn, whom she shared a special bond and she missed desperately.  Her Father and Mother, two brothers, Jack (John) and Ron Buchanan.  Two ex-husbands, Gary Ashdown and LeRoy Dahn. Her great granddaughter Violet.

Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and chaplains at St. Mark's Hospital, especially Dr. Mitchell.
