Jimmie Dale McGee, 83, peacefully transitioned April 23, 2022 at home.  He was born April 5th, 1939, in Collins Mississippi.  Born to Idella and Leslie McGee, in a family of thirteen children.  Survived by his sisters, Sarah King, Annie Mae Ducksworth, Katherine Vaughn, and Mary Helen Wheeler.  Preceded in death by Jessie Mae McGee, Eretta McGee, Flora Mae, Mary Lee, Tilda Mae Hopper, Samuel McGee, TL McGee and Lonnie McGee.  Jimmie departs heavenly, leaving five generations of nieces and nephews to watch over.

Jimmie grew up in Collins, Mississippi until moving across the country to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1974.  He later started to work at the Veterans Affairs, better known as the VA.  He retired from the VA after 20+ years of service where he worked for and cared for in the nursing service program for about 26 years.  He worked up until his health took a toll on him.

Jimmie also served his community through Calvary Baptist Church and many of Calvary's activities.  He joined the church in 1983 and grew more active in the church through his love of service and the Lord.  Jimmie also served his community through Calvary Baptist Men’s Choir as their secretary beginning in 2006.  Jimmie loves his church and every person he met through the church’s activities. Jimmie loved singing in the Calvary choir and working the front desk after retiring from the VA.

Jimmie loved to bake and cook but especially for his loved ones.  He always knew how to make his family and loved ones feel special.  He would remember birthdays and show up with smooth yellow cake, white frosting with coconut shredded on top or a delicious German chocolate cake - only made with love, from the sweetest man, Jimmie Dale McGee.

A memorial service to honor Jimmie will be held at The Calvary Baptist Church, 1090 South State Street, Salt Lake City, UT at 11:00am; visitation starting at 10:00am.  Services will be livestreamed and may be viewed by returning to this page just before the service on Thursday where a "Watch Service Live" button will appear.  The service will remain posted on this page for all to watch on demand.
