Stephanie Ann Gallivan

April 21, 1943 - September 25, 2022

Stephanie Ann Gallivan died at home, surrounded by her family, in Salt Lake City on September 25, 2022. She was 79.
Stephanie was born April 21, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mary Alys Maddux and A. Todd Selbert. Stephanie attended College Preparatory School, and then University of Cincinnati. A position with American Airlines took her to Washington D.C., and then to New York City where she worked as an agent for that airline at the Waldorf Astoria. It was in New York that Stephanie met John W. "Champ" Gallivan, Jr., whom she married December 31, 1970.

Following their years in New York, Stephanie and Champ lived for a time in Salt Lake City before moving back to the east coast where they settled with their children in Avon, Connecticut. In 1996, they returned to Salt Lake City where Stephanie most enjoyed the quiet beauty of her garden, the company of her family, and the adoration of her grandsons.

Stephanie is survived by Champ, her husband of 51 years; daughters Amy Todd Gallivan Damico (Dru), of Salt Lake, and Katherine Gallivan Taylor (Robert) of Berkeley, California; grandsons Daniel Romeo Damico, of Santa Clara, CA, John William "Will" Damico, and Henry David Damico, of Salt Lake. She also leaves brothers, Todd M. Selbert of Greenwich, Connecticut, James N. Selbert (Bobbi) of Petaluma, California, and P. Scott Selbert of Cincinnati, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Stephanie lost her beloved son, J.W. Gallivan III, in 2004. The thought of their reunion brings comfort to those of us who miss them both dearly.

Friends and family are invited to gather for a wake on Thursday, October 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Stephanie will be laid to rest alongside J.W. on Friday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Ave. and "T" Street. Funeral Directors, Starks Funeral Parlor.
