Walter R. Sroczynski

July 19, 1934 - February 28, 2023

Walter Richard Sroczynski, 88, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023.

Walt was born in Buffalo, New York and grew up working at the family-operated dairy farm near Lancaster, New York.  He started school at age 7 and later attended Lancaster High School where he first met his loving wife, Alda, and started dating. They married in 1957 and later moved to Salt Lake City in 1970.  They were together for over 70 years and raised a big, wonderful, loving, crazy family.

Walt was briefly in the Army as a young man in the 1950’s and fought the “Battle of Long Island” (his humor, not mine).  He spent most of his working career at American Airlines in Salt Lake City, and later enjoyed many years ushering/managing at the University of Utah sporting venues, greeting anyone he saw with a big smile and a warm handshake. He was a lifetime Buffalo Bills fan and also loved the Utah Utes.  He loved spending time at the family cabin in Tabiona, Utah and visiting with all of the Mt Tabby friends, working on the Mt Tabby Board for many years as well. Dad could fix or build just about anything including his first home and passed most of those handy skills on to his sons.  He was a good man and made those he knew feel good too.

Walt is preceded in death by wife Alda and their 2 daughters.  He is survived by three sons, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Walt and Alda will always be in our hearts and will be forever missed.

A small graveside service is tentatively being planned for Tabiona, Utah after the snow melts in May or June. Please revisit this page for details as we approach that time of year.
