Terryann Stacey Nielsen, age 74, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away unexpectedly the morning of December 10, 2016 at her home.

Terryann was a generous and kind-hearted woman, a loving mother and devoted wife, who spoiled her grandkids without complaint. If a person could be sweet and a fighter at the same time, that was Terryann.

Originally from San Mateo, CA, Terryann graduated from San Mateo High (1960), and the University of Utah (1963). Together with her husband William (Bill), three children and the family dog (aka "The Polish Army"), she enjoyed many years of camping, fishing and exploring throughout Utah and the surrounding states. She loved working her entire career as a Medical Technician in the Hematology Department at Holy Cross Hospital (now Salt Lake Regional Medical Center).

A breast cancer survivor, Terryann loved scouring estate sales, photography, antique collecting, puttering in her garden (never meeting a plant she didn't like), and the thrill of digging for old, antique bottles. Not afraid to get her hands dirty, she loved restoring old furniture, and poking around ghost towns and abandoned buildings in search of hidden treasure. We still laugh every time we think of Terryann, together with best friends Shawna and Barbara, being "detained by the police" for their escapades!

She will be incredibly missed by all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents Frank J. and Marguerite E. Terry Stacey. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill Nielsen; her children Julie (Mike) Neas; Kristine (Max) Carrigan and David (Alie) Nielsen; and grandchildren Erin, Hayden, Maggie, Conner, Emma and Toby; and her sister, Susan Stacey.

In recognition of her dream of finding that elusive "perfect digging hole," please come casually dressed to a Celebration of Life, this Tuesday, December 20th, 2016, from 6-8 PM, Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to Wasatch Community Gardens, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, or the Humane Society of Utah.
