Gloria was a dedicated minister's wife, community service provider, and enthusiastic traveler. After attending Queens College in NYC where she studied Chemistry, she worked in the field of allergy research for Cornell University Medical College.

Gloria married the Rev. J. Stephen Bremer in 1951. Together they served parishes in Toledo, Ohio; Elgin, IL , and Chicago, IL where Steve also served as Dean of Students at the Lutheran School of Theology.
