Rita Collins

Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away February 7, 2017 at the age of 93.

She was born April 9, 1923 in Abington, Virginia to Roby and Viola Widner. She worked for Western Union as a telegrapher during the war. She met and married William Collins and they remained together until his passing. She enjoyed her church activities including daily mass and taking long walks in the neighborhood. Rita was always optimistic, outgoing and cheerful.

She is survived by her children Traci and Richard (Marie); son-in-law Ray Johnson; grandchildren Jessie, Joe, Scott, Bridget, Bryan and Clara; great-grandchildren Raven, Kayleigh, Kaden and Killian; and sister, Rosa.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Frances.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 14th at 1:45 PM at St. Joseph Villa, 451 East Bishop Federal Lane, Salt Lake City. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Blacksburg, Virginia.
