Violet Peggy Barney

Violet Peggy Barney, beloved wife and mother passed away April 1st, 2017. She was born October 22nd, 1938 in Ogden, UT to Theresa and Arnold Peterson. Married Robert L. Barney on August 29th. 1959 at St. Joseph's church in Ogden, Utah.

Vi and Bob moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1963 and became faithful members of St. Olaf's Catholic Church. The family consists of four sons Scott (Sue Dawn), David (Janet), Michael (deceased), and Mark (of Oregon).

Violet graduated from St. Benedicts School of Nursing in 1959, and later received her B.S. from Westminster College. She began her nursing career at St. Marks Hospital in 1964, where she held many positions over her 36 year career.

Vi loved to travel and enjoyed the opportunities, which allowed her to see the world.

She spent her life and retirement years giving in service, always thinking of others before herself. She cherished the time spent with her family, and had a special bond with her granddaughters Brittny, Jessica, Katie and Emerald. Her love and devotion to family can't adequately be expressed in words. She enjoyed volunteer work at St. Vincent's shelter, where she made good friends and had a good time. St. Olaf's Parish honored her with the "Woman of The Year" award in 2014.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 6th from 6:00 to 8:30 PM where recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00PM at St. Olaf's Catholic Church, 276 East 1700 South, Bountiful. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 7th at 11:00 AM also at the church. Graveside committal will be held at 1:45PM at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave T Street, Salt Lake City.

Violet will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
