Annette Pettey McDonough, 77, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017, at St. Mark's Hospital, in the company of her best friend and family members, from complications of an unforeseen acute liver disease. Annette was
born March 13, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clyde Pettey and Ruth Nylander Pettey. In addition to idolizing Roy Rogers during her childhood, Annette enjoyed campfire picnics, and many summer trips to Orangeville, Utah with her brother Roger, to visit their paternal aunts, uncles, cousins, and Cooney (Aunt Edrie's dog). She graduated from East High School in 1958, and was married to Tom McDonough from 1960 to 1987. During this time, she raised their two daughters, and worked part time assisting in the family business, Paul-Thomas Jewelers. After her marriage, Annette found her passion as a dietician and nutrition counselor, where she inspired her clients and friends to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Annette served many people with her Diet Center franchise in Holladay from its opening in 1986 until she retired in 2004.
Annette was a loving mother & grandmother, good friend and neighbor, and she was known for her quick dry wit, fantastic cooking, respect of other cultures, gracious attitude, and her wise advice.
Annette's love of travel and people motivated her last excursions to Scandinavia to discover her maternal roots in the mountain regions of Norway and Sweden. Annette is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Pettey, and mother Ruth Nylander Pettey. She is survived by her brother Roger (Judy, deceased); former husband, Thomas F. McDonough; their two daughters Peggy (Patrick Jan), and Jayne (Pat McLaughlin); and her four grandchildren Claudie Alice Jan, Martine Mae Jan, Cameron Kael McLaughlin, and Maya Indigo McLaughlin.
