She was born in Bountiful Utah on November 11, 1939 to Ernie and Blenda Ekstrom. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. She dedicated the first half of her life to raising her eight children.  Education was important to Rowenna and she was able to further her own later in life by earning her hypnotherapy certification.  She used this skill along with her incredible generosity to help numerous victims of abuse.  Rowenna had a positive energy that was contagious. She touched many lives and made it one of her life goals to make the world a better place by helping one person at a time.

In 1998 she was able to use her skill and determination to co found Tapestry Against Polygamy. Together with other Tapestry members she was able to make an incredible difference throughout the world. Rowenna had an amazing positive attitude and would never turn her back on anyone in need. At times she would open her own home to provide shelter and comfort to those needing assistance. She thrived on helping others and this, along with her family, was her passion in life. She had the ability to make any child she encountered, feel as they were her own.

She is survived by her children Michelle Taylor, Kelly (Dave) Kingston, Kristin (Bill) MacKenzie, Taylor (Arianna) Erickson, Stacy (Perry) Wallin, Collin (Eryn) Erickson, Heather (Jeremy) Augilar, Tina (Chris) Bessey. Fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
