Our "Badass" Mother and Grandma left this world peacefully with grace and dignity on December 26, 2017.

Gertrude Nadine Kilburn Joseph was ninth of ten children born in a coal camp near Rock Springs, Wyoming on October 18, 1927 to Joseph and Bertha Kilburn. In 1954, she married a very colorful character, Charley Joseph, and the two shared 50 years of marriage, five children and a successful trucking business.

Trudy shared her love for life with friends and family. She regularly enjoyed hunting, shooting guns, camping and fishing. She loved to drive her black Cadillac and go for fast rides in the Porsche with the top down wearing her Red Johnny Walker hat.  She also found time to enjoy the simple things in life, like University of Utah and NFL football, Utah Jazz basketball and her beloved "soapies". She loved the Ellen DeGeneres show and was able to attend one of the shows tapings a few years ago.  Later in life, Trudy found herself passionate about skydiving having just completed her 3rd jump in celebration of her 90th birthday. You could find Trudy at the end of a long day enjoying a Camel smoke, and a good scotch or glass of beer (always in a glass!).

She is survived by her children Tami (Tom) Gladstone, Tracey (Steve) Bartlett, Wayne (Katrina) Joseph; five grandchildren Teri, Trent, Megan, Jeric and Brooklyn; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Trudy was preceded in death by her husband and daughters, Melanie and Shelley.

Trudy left the world having inspired those around her to live life bravely. She was unafraid to get the most out of each moment. She truly embraced the YOLO philosophy.   A very special thanks to Rick, Denice, Rena, Ken, Norma Ann, Glade, Jerry, Susan, Tina and Kathy for their frequent visits and gifts. We also want to thank the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living for their loving care.  As she requested, Trudy will have her ashes scattered to the wind in Wyoming by family and friends in the future when the weather warms.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm at Hoof & Vine, 7680 S. Union Park Ave, Midvale, directly across the parking lot from the movie theaters.

The restaurant is located in the shopping center on the corner directly across the parking lot from the movie theater entrance doors.  More parking available in the parking garage within walking distance located just south of restaurant.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a military service member organization of your choice or the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
