Cristobal E. Merino

Cristobal Escamilla Merino was called home on March 18th, 2018, after being diagnosed with lung cancer in January of this year. He passed away comfortably at home two weeks after being placed on hospice care. Cristobal was born June 7th, 1940 to Guadalupe Escamilla and Florentino Merino in Salvatierra, Guanajuato Mexico. Cristobal came to the United States as a young boy and has been here since.

He married Josephine Velasquez in 1977 and took on the role of father to her four children Gary, Becky, Rita, and Michelle, later to have his only son born in 1980, Jesus Florentino who preceded him in death as well his beloved wife Josie. Together Cristobal and Josephine raised two of many grandchildren, Alex Joseph and Mario Ramon. 

He is survived by Gary Garcia, Becky Garcia, Rita Roundy and Michelle Fernandez and their children. You will be missed greatly by many of us.  

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 2:00 P.M. at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek.
