Elenora Margaret Geerlings

August 9, 1919 - April 11, 2018
Elenora Margaret Geerlings

Elenora Margaret Geerlings, feisty, funny and a fierce defender of those she loved, passed-on to new challenges in time on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018.  She began Life's journey in Sunnyside, Utah on August 9th, 1919.  Growing up with her parents, Anna Lakatos and Alexander S. Daraban, she was never short of an interesting story about the trials and tribulations of life in a coal mining town with her brother (Alexander G.) and two sisters (Elizabeth & Betty).  There, also began a life-long love of music and playing the piano.  Later the curiosities of life led her into a career of nursing, service in the Navy, and caring for those with greater needs.  And yes, the stories became even more interesting and poignant ... Life's Lessons that she freely shared!  As the years past, and her light began to fade, she was lovingly cared for by family, friends, the staffs at the Wellington and Sunrise residences, and Comfort Worx Hospice.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee T. Geerlings, her brother and sisters; and is survived by her sons Craig and Mark, their wives, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Family and close friends will gather to bid Elenora a celebratory adieu on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Stark's Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E, Salt Lake City.  Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.

Throughout life Elenora was sustained by her deep faith in the Lord.  Her final bell will toll at a funeral service on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 10:00 am at St Paul's Episcopal Church, 261 S. 900 E.  Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 275 U Street, will follow the service.
