MaVé Park Treadway

Our Vé died peacefully April 22, 2018 with her family by her side. Born Marion MaVé Park on June 25, 1928 in Kanab, Utah to Robert Hugh Park and Ludean Lunt Park. She spent her earliest summers with her parents and younger brother Bob living at the Big Springs Ranger Station in the Kaibab National Forest in Arizona, where her father worked as a forest ranger. His work took him to many assignments around the western US, so MaVé was enrolled at Wasatch Academy High School in Mount Pleasant, Utah where she was a cheerleader and avid musician. She attended the University of Utah where she majored in Music and Fine Arts, was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and married Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity brother, Jay Eugene Treadway of Salt Lake City. They were married in 1948. An accomplished pianist, she played in the McCune Mansion for the Virginia Tanner School of Dance. MaVé completed her Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology while raising a growing family, and completed course work for her PhD in audiology. Her diverse career included cherished positions as a speech therapist at Primary Children's Hospital, The Children's Center, The School for the Deaf, and in the Ogden and Salt Lake City School Districts, owning/running Dixie Hall Art Store in Laguna Beach, California, where the family often vacationed, and many roles at the Treadway family business, Kenworth Sales Co. in Salt Lake City. Her work integrating music and language for deaf and diagnostic children was innovative. The Treadways were active members of Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Country Club, the Ambassador Club, and were charter members of the Cottonwood Country Club in the 1950s, where they formed many lasting friendships. Her passions included music, oil painting and a coveted Life Master ranking for contract bridge. J. E. "Gene" Treadway predeceased her in 2000. She is survived by her brother Robert Park (Linda), daughter Kacy, son Patrick (Hannah), daughter Shawn (Samuel Morgan), son Kyle (Greg Pedroza), 7 grandchildren (Tucker, Caitlin, Sydney, Elliott, Piper, Oliver, Corbin) and 8 great grandchildren (and counting).

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Cottonwood Country Club, 1780 E. Lakewood Dr, Holladay. Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.starksfuneral.com
