Adrian Mihai Gustai

November 29, 1963 - March 10, 2023

Adrian Mihai Gustai was born November 29, 1963 in Bucharest, Romania to Maria and Mark Gustai. He  passed away March 10,  in South Lake Tahoe, CA due to cardiac arrest. 

As a youth in Romania, he participated in model ship building, orienterring, skiing, and hiking. He graduated from polytechnical high school in Bucharest and was a national ski champion at age 18.  In 1984, following Romanian military service, he immigrated to the US becoming a citizen January 4, 1991. He obtained a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering at Florida International University. While attending college, he worked summers in Alaska as a commercial fisherman. His love of nature was demonstrated by his participation in the oil spill clean up in Alaska after the Exxon Valdez accident. He met the love of his life, Lisa in 1999, marrying in 2004.

Most of his engineering career was spent at Hill Air Force Base. He worked for a number of different programs at Hill, including MAS MCCR, GMATS, EFV, GBS, SBM, ECBM, A-10 Aircraft. At the time of his death, he was working with the F-16 supply chain. Adrian made many friends while working on base. 

Adrian had an adventurous soul. He loved skiing and snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and wind surfing. He also loved travelling, spending time with friends, cooking and entertaining. He never met a stranger, always had a positive outlook, and loved making others laugh

He will be terribly missed and survived by his wife and best friend Lisa Jensen  of NSL, UT, his father Mark Gustai of Hollywood, Fl, his sister Florentina Mueller-Planitz (Christian) and niece Anna Mueller-Planitz of Sandy, UT, brothers-in-law Curt Jensen (Laurie) of Slayton, MN and Rollie Jensen (Jo) of Zimmerman, MN, sister-in-law BJ Malecha (Hal) of Eugene, OR,  nephew Pete Jensen (Samira) of Mankato, MN, niece Sarah Anderson (Logan) of Burnsville, MN, and his dog Lucky. 

A memorial will be on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 2 PM at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1131 South Main Street, Centerville, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Humane Society of Utah.

We were very saddened to learn of Adrian's sudden passing.  We continue to keep you in our prayers.  I wish I could be there for you but no longer travel due to health reasons.  Adrian was a wonderful man and will be missed by all who knew him.  Nothing I can say or do will ease your pain.  Only time can do that.  Just know that he was loved, as are you!
