Our cherished son and brother Alex passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2026 at the age of 38.
Alex was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 3, 1987. A love of Shakespeare began at Reid School from the early age of six. He attended Juan Diego Catholic HS where he participated in track, wrestling, football, la crosse, and drama in the title role of “Audrey” in Little Shoppe Of Horrors. He graduated from East Hollywood HS. where he developed his love in creative arts and film, and worked on several short films. He attended SLCC while pursuing his interest in the arts.
Alex and his brother, Jason were Altar Servers at St. Thomas More Parish and volunteered at The Days of Yore Festival. He loved rock climbing and considered building a climbing wall in his room. He shared many memorable Scouting adventures with his brother, Jason and Dad exploring the beauty of Utah and surrounding states.
Alex was a loving empathetic soul, who cared deeply about others and often times would “walk in their shoes”. His humility and ability to forgive and accept others for the good that lie within was a gift he had since childhood. He cared about the struggles of the most vulnerable and smallest of God’s creatures; rescuing a bird that had fallen from its nest as a child. He valued humanity and kindness. He believed in hope in an imperfect world. He found connection in verse and lyric through poetry and music. He loved the brilliant talent of Charlie Chaplin and his song “Smile”, and also the poetic honesty of Bruce Springsteen. Alex’s wit and spontaneous sense of humor was contagious and joyful. He loved his family and especially his brother, Jason. Most of all, he listened and comforted others through his tender heart. He had a gift in knowing that it is possible be kinder and make a difference in the lives of others in this world.
He leaves behind his Mother (Yanett), Father, (Theodore), Brother (Jason), many extended family members, friends, and the love of his life.
A visitation and vigil service will be held on Monday, July 13 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 14 at 12:00 Noon at St. Thomas More, 3015 East Creek Road, Sandy.
