A day no one ever thought would come.   He loved and was loved in so many ways by all those he came into contact with.

Ali migrated to Salt Lake City at the age of 18 and never left.  He attended the University of Utah, married and had one son.  He became a citizen of the United States in the Bicentennial year of 1976.  His accent was uniquely Ali.

Ali graduated from the culinary institute of America.  He held an MA from Michigan State in Hospitality and was a member of the Club Managers Association of America.

His professional career consisted of club management around the Salt

Lake Valley (Salt Lake Country Club, Winery, The Collector, Hilton Hotel, Cottonwood Country Club, Willowcreek Country Club and others). Owner/partner of the Gatsby and La Shaminee. Store manager of Smiths Food King.

Manager of Alpine King, Inc., Personal Assistant to John W. Gallivan,

Chef Extraordinaire and dearest friend and confidant of the Gallivan family.

To say Ali was fascinated by life would be an understatement.  Stories… Ali knew how to tell a story.  He commanded attention.  He was always at the center.  Technology, women, and fast cars Ali could never get enough.  Ali believed he was blessed in so many ways and shared that belief by giving to so many others.

He would tell you family was always his highest priority.  Friend was something Ali knew how to do well.  May God kiss you on both cheeks and hold you in his arms as you pass from this life and onto the next.

Memorial Services will be held at:

Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 S. 900 East, Salt Lake City, Wednesday Nov. 30 between 6-8PM

Please come and remember his life with us.
