Alton Frank Ekstrom
January 11, 1936 - November 27, 2024
Our beloved father, Alton Frank Ekstrom, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday November 27, 2024 at the age of 88. He has been reunited with his sweetheart, JoAn Marva (Brown) Ekstrom who passed away earlier this year.
Alton was born on January 11, 1936 to Ernest Henry Ekstrom and Blenda Roenna Frandsen in Firth, Idaho. He was the second oldest child in his family, and grew up in Salt Lake City, UT. Alton graduated from East High School and shortly after was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958. He served his country in Germany as a Military Policeman. Alton married his soulmate, JoAn, on January 20, 1962. Soon after they began their family having 8 children. Alton was boasted to be “The World’s Greatest Salesman” by his family as he was a successful salesman traveling for 52 years.
Alton will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues. He is survived by his 8 children (Susan, Brenda, Robert “York”, Catherine, Jason, David, Steven, and Martin), 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and his youngest sister Shelia. He is preceded in death by JoAn, his brothers (Burke, Evan, Virgil, Vernal), 2 sisters (Rowenna, Laurine), and parents.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday December 12, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building. A short Graveside service will be held the following day, December 13, 2024 at 1p.m. Bountiful Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful.
