Ange Giannopoulos Floor
May 25, 1931 - December 1, 2022
Ange (Angeliki) Floor, our beloved mother, yiayia (grandmother) and aunt peacefully departed this life on December 1, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born in the small village of Manesi, Kalavrita, Greece to Apostolos and Chrysoula Giannopoulos. Ange grew up with three siblings in the midst of World War II, enduring the many hardships associated with enemy occupation. As a young woman she went to trade school to become a professional seamstress in Greece. She had a special gift and took pride in her craft, later making fine clothing for her family, including her daughters’ intricate wedding dresses.
Ange met her beloved husband, Basil N. Floor, while still living in Greece. Basil came to Salt Lake City in 1951 to find opportunity and peace after 10 years of war-time military service. 4 years later, at the age of 23, Ange came to Salt Lake City. Soon after, Basil and Ange were married at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on September 25, 1955. She quickly adapted to life in America, learning to communicate proficiently in English.
Ange and Basil soon started a family, raising four children. Ange’s family was her life. They cherished their family trips together. Some of their favorite vacations were Disneyland and annual trips to Lava Hot Springs. Their most memorable vacation was to Greece where Ange was thrilled to show her children where she grew up and introduce them to their grandparents and extended family. Ange adored and was uplifted by her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was an extraordinary cook, joyfully hosting large gatherings of family and friends. Having family around her table always brought her happiness. Every New Year’s Day, the feast day of St. Basil, she amazed her family by preparing every delectable Greek dish and pastry imaginable. She was the world’s best cook!
Ange was a devoted Greek Orthodox Christian whose faith never wavered, always sustaining her during her life’s challenges. She knew all the Church hymns and sang them often and prayed continually, especially for the wellbeing of her loved ones. She was active in the Panahaikos Society whose membership is from that region of Greece. Ange had a green thumb, loving to grow impressive houseplants as well as beautiful flowers and vegetables. Her home was always immaculately cared for. She had a love for music, singing, and Greek folk dancing. For 18 years, she enjoyed working in the gift wrap department of ZCMI. Customers often requested her specifically for her fine work and pleasing personality. Ange was always known for being classy and graceful. Her kindness and love touched the lives of many who will miss her greatly.
Ange is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Sotirios and Theodoros Giannopoulos; sister, Christina Aggouras; and son, Nick Floor. She is survived by her children, Alexandra (John) Klekas, Goldie (Charles) Karpakis, and Paul (Christy) Floor. Also survived by her grandchildren, Gregory (Jessie) Klekas, Katina Karpakis(Andrew) Heidebrecht, Stephen Karpakis, Nicholas Floor; and great grandchildren, Jonathan and Mia Klekas, and Christopher and Michael Heidebrecht. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Greece and Australia.
Funeral service will take place at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church, 9201 S. 1300 East, Sandy, Utah, 84094 on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will take place at the church starting one hour prior to funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church Benevolence Fund.

Our deepest condolences to your family for the loss of your mother and grandmother. Ange was such a classy lady who always had open arms and a hug for everyone. To be in her presence was truly a blessing. She was always dressed impeccably and took pride in her home and cooking. She will be truly missed but thought of with loving memories. I loved having Ange as my neighbor the last two years. I just wished I could have known her earlier in her life. I still remember all the stories she told me and each one was fascinating. She was definitely loved and will be missed. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Ange's family. Sherry Quinn

Dear Alexandra (and John), I saw belatedly about the passing or your mom and mother-in-law and wanted to express my condolences. I lost my mom last year and know how hard it can be, no matter how old we get to be. Fromher obituary, I can tell she wa a grand lady and from knowing you, I can tell she was a good mother.
