April Clissold

April 23, 1947 - August 28, 2023

April Clissold was an incredible caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world suddenly and far too soon on August 28, 2023, at the age of 76.

She was born to Jack and Kimiko Aoyagi on April 23, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She mostly grew up in West Valley, Utah and graduated from Granger High School. After graduating from high school, April attended the University of Utah and worked for the Tooele Depot. She then pursued a career with various sectors of the Utah government including the Army Induction Center, IRS, and BLM.

April met the love of her life and husband Lane Clissold in October 1970, and they married on December 31, 1970. They shared 53 wonderful years as husband and wife before her passing. Together, they had 2 beautiful daughters: Morgan and Raven.

April was the definition of fun and loved to enjoy life. She loved to play golf, card games, Bunco, Mahjong, garden, travel, camp and shop. She was a member of the Glendale Ladies Golf League, Newcomers Club, Red Hat Club, ladies bowling league, and several card game groups. She also spent her time volunteering at Kingsbury Hall and Pioneer Theatre.

April will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her and loved her. She always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She was the most kindhearted, giving, remarkable person to everyone she knew. She was an extraordinary person who brought joy and fun to the world. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

April is survived by her husband Lane, daughters Morgan and Raven (Michael), sister Cindi (Tom), plus her many friends, brother and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by both parents and brother Terry. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

A Celebration of Life for April will be held Saturday September 23, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. For those attending, please wear something bright and colorful to represent the bright light she was in all our lives.

In Loving Memory

Dear Lane and family I was so sad to hear of April's passing. Through the years whenever we got together as family she was the sweetest, happiest person I have ever met. May her example live on in all of us. Blessings and loving thoughts to you.

Lane, We were so saddened to hear of April's untimely passing.  She truly was a wonderful lady.  She was not related, but part of our large family none the less.  When her and Pam would visit my mother Dena they brought her so much joy and made her day. All our love and prayers to you and your family.

Lane, Morgan, & Raven,   I am so very sorry for the loss of your Wife and Mom! April was such a special lady that lit up a room with her kind energy! I will never forget all the childhood elementary memories and dance memories with April. Just the other day I was telling my kids about the epic sticky rice triangles she made for us for dance competitions and how they were my favorite! Thinking of you all at such a hard time and praying for comfort and peace! Wish I could be there to attend the celebration of life! Love and miss you all!

She gave me an acoustic guitar and I loved it. Wrote a few songs on it and sang for people using it. I really appreciated it and the guitar helped start my music career. I also remembers her always being around for family functions. Birthdays, holidays, etc. Amazing person always happy.

Dear Family, I remembered my parents talking with her mom Kimi about April and Cyndi, when she visited us several times on our farm in San Jose many years ago.  As a first cousin only a few years younger than April, I am a bit shocked and sadden by her passing.  On behalf of my mom, brothers and sister, you have our sincere condolences on your loss.

To all those who love our April (so many, as she was loved by all).  My heartfelt sympathy is with all of you. I have grieved with you everyday since the the tragic event first unfolded. She was such a bright spot in the lives of all she touched. So there will be a huge void that only she could fill.  Thankfully, you have a beautiful, loving family to see you through this. I look forward to seeing all of you at her Celebration Of Life. May God grant you the comfort and strength you will need to see you through and blessings to make you smile again.   Love to all.  Lilly (Liz) Hart

I am so sorry for your loss.  I worked with April many years ago and we remained friends after we went separate ways. She was always so upbeat, you couldn't be down when you were with her.  May God give you peace and comfort.

I was so saddened to receive the news of April's  passing! What a beautiful, caring and charismatic soul she was! I have known April for many years.  She belonged to my hat club (The Chapeau' Society) and we had great fun at our monthly luncheons and being able to wear our beautiful hats and dressed to the 9's. Many stopped to admire us about the hats we were wearing. and I remember an occasion when heads turned when they saw April, as she was wearing a particulary stunning hat! She was very active in the Newcomers' club and she was a member of my board, when I was President of the Pioneer Theatre Guild. She was passionate in volunteering her time to many organizations and helping to support thoses less fortunate. We have lost a very special lady, and she will be missed by all her knew her! Della V. I'm truly saddened to learn of April's passing.  We were friends for way over 40 years.  She was more than a friend. She was family. She was the best "go-to" person if I needed a listening ear, or just a good laugh. Many, many good years with treasured memories. I'm so blessed to have gotten to know Lane, and to watch Morgan and Raven grow up. My heartfelt condolences and love to you all. Fly with the Angels my friend.
