Arland D. Bell

Arland D. Bell passed away peacefully at home with his wife and family by his side to return to his heavenly home on July 19th 2019 at the age of 81.

Born in Magna, Utah to Clarence F Bell and Ivie Ilene Bell. He graduated from Cyprus High School and then enlisted in the Army, with 2 years in Germany during peace time. He worked at Kennecott for 28 years and was the supervisor over the Concentrator Plant for many of those years. Layoffs forced him to move on to a new job. He worked 21 years for the Church Office Building and became supervisor of the new heating and cooling plant. 

Camping and fishing were among his favorites, while his least favorite was my telling him we were going to build a cabin and we can live in the mountains. He really fought long and hard on the idea, saying he could not build anything. We did and we both found out how awesome we were at building this wonderful log cabin, mostly by ourselves. A few things had to be contracted out, but we did the rest. Lots of hard work, years, disagreements, pride in accomplishments, and a front porch that was pure heaven to sit on and enjoy the beauty of nature.

This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man left a permanent mark etched in the hearts of his wife, family and friends. He will be supremely missed by his loving wife of almost 44 years, the good times and the difficult times, but always with a great love for each other. The last three years have been a long and extremely difficult journey for both as he gradually lost his mobility and memory. Then, on March 6th, he took a really big turn for the worse, he become totally dependent on his wife for his every need, along with no longer knowing who she was.  With this sudden change came a dramatic loss of weight and then total loss of muscle.  

He leaves behind five children who love and adore him; Brian Bell, Shanna (Craig) Rowley, Kevin Jeffery, Scott (Candice) Jeffery, Marnie (Aaron) Spackman.  Two families came together and loved.  My three loved this wonderful man so much so they ask him to adopt them even though they were full grown and married, it was their way of letting him know how much they really loved him. Fifteen amazing grandchildren that brought him joy and more love, and five beautiful great grandchildren. Oh the wonder of posterity and the amazement at how fast family expands.

He is survived by his sister Sherry (Brent) Williams and brother Collin (Sandy) Bell.

Arland is/was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence Foy and Ivy Ilene Bell; three sisters,  LuJuana Sitton, Vivan Winkley, and Donna Shaw; two brothers, Darrell Bell and Kenneth Bell.

He had many wonderful close friends. A great sense of humor, always getting smiles and laughter from any who experienced his humor.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Graveside service will be held, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
