Art was a man with a heart ten times bigger than the School Bus that he drove. Art was always a gifted performer. He was literally captivating. I remember one night talking with the head of Draper Chamber of Commerce for two hours out in the dark. I also remember when he was helping the Utah Elks at their Drug Awareness exhibit. Children would be perfectly still, and looking straight up at him. Their eyes were so wide they almost touched in the middle. The most memorable manifestation of his God given ability is the one I will always remember. Art would tell a story that would literally put you aboard the bus to the University of Utah Youth Burn Camp. You would witness in your mind's eye how children who after the trauma of being burned entered the bus just knowing that they were now ugly and totally unworthy of love and friendship. And on the bus ride home they and their new friends had come to the realization that their beauty was more than skin deep. And they were ready to continue to live and continue to laugh and love. I remember how Art and a small band of cohorts, with the help of his great friends at Club 90 held a 45-minute fundraiser. And with the generosity of the Harley Davidson and J.C. Hackett congregations among others, they put the exclamation point on a two thousand dollar year. He even had students who rode his school bus raising money. Speaking of giving direction to youth, Art did wonders with the young people who dabbled in delinquent behavior. He was a regular at the Detention Center, and was involved with the Diocesan Prison Ministry. I was so lucky to be his guest at a dinner held in Father Kaiser's honor. And on the way home all Art could talk about was our new acquaintances that were so low key, and pleasant, yet so prolific in their dedication. It is my opinion that you can tell a true Catholic by their ongoing effort to Know God, Love God, and Serve God. Imperfect but self-correcting on the fly. So Art was a real Catholic. The law mandated ?Seventy times Seven? and to Art it was seventy times seven. I always had fun being around Art when he was involved in these many exceptionally nice things that he did. And I haven't seen him for well over a year. I had always planned on asking him the following question the next time I saw him. ? Hey Art, did you ever finally get those T-shirts back??

Alice, please remember that we love you and know that our hearts are heavy at this time. Art will be greatly missed. This world has lost one of life's special people. He loved everyone and in turn was loved by all. Even in adversity he was able to forgive. His devotion to our Lord was felt by everyone he came in contact with. He truly lived as we should all live. He was an amazing man - but you already know that. The service he gave to all, personally and through the Knights of Columbus, was unwavering. There was nothing he wouldn't do for anyone. His fantastic legacy is a model that all Knights should strive to follow. Remember, we love him (and you) and are 1000% better for knowing both of you..

Art, was a special person. A true Catholic Gentleman and a friend. You could always count on Art for anything. He was always at church, always at Knight's functions and never said said no, when asked to help! He was always glad to see you and will be missed! Annemare, Alysa and Sean were sad when they heard you had gone! As a past Grand Knight you always told me how much you had learned from me but you went ahead and became Grand Knight anyway, putting your own mark on our Council, Church and Community. You drove us nuts but we still loved you and we know that you are now with God in a better place. I am so glad you got to come to one last Notre Dame party with us and just wish you could have been up there with me doing the gaming boards! It wasn't the same without you! We'll take good care of Alice and keep up all your good work and memories here in Utah. You will always be remembered! We are praying for you and your family. Doug, Aneemarie, Alysa & Sean Edwards

Alice, I was so terribly sorry to have heard about Art's passing. I was shocked and so deeply saddened to have received this news. I do take great comfort in knowing that he is probably sitting up in heaven talking God's ear off about the Steelers or what he can do to help out in heaven to help others.. I am so thankful that I had an opportunity to talk with him and share a few laughs on last time at the Notre Dame/Utah game. I always admired Art's sense of humor and his relentless drive to help others. I will always be thankful for the great times we worked together on past motorcycle rallies for the burn camp for those kids that he cared so much about. I can honestly say that knowing Art and counting him as my friend helped me to be a better person and a far better Catholic. I cannot believe he is gone. His loss will be felt by all that loved him and had the honor of having him in our lives. That grief, so it has been said, is the price for having loved someone when they leave. I can tell you honestly I have shed more than a few tears accordingly. May God bless and comfort you Alice. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you!.

Art has the biggest heart in any guy we ever met. We will never forget, and will always appreciate, the time he put in with the Boy Scouts and with the other children-in-need programs. Even belting out the Christmas tunes at the care center in Draper! Art, you are a true gentleman and a great friend. Rest in peace buddy, may God always bless you and your family. Art you will be missed very much by my family! I will miss seeing you at church upon my late arrivals and the joke you where quick to tell me before taking a seat! I also loved how he would make my little girl laugh when she was trying to look serious. Art was and honest man and very proud! I also loved the Pittsburgh life storys and Military tells! He loved to help out the Knights and kids and loved to tell of his visits to the troubled ones! His number one devotion was to God and Alice! You will be missed and i know there is a another journey you must take! God Bless Art and Alice!

I only knew Art a short time but we had an immediate connection once he knew I was a Steelers fan. He was so pleasant to talk to and even during his adversity he was always talking about helping others. I'm glad our paths crossed and I was fortunate enough to share some time with him. My life is better for having known him. I was looking forward to meeting at Club 90 on a Monday night to watch some football with him. May God bless you Alice and be with you during this difficult time.....Nicole (Art's favorite physical therapist)
