Arthur Grant Davis
August 19, 1939 - December 11, 2025
Arthur Grant Davis, known as Art—and often with a twinkle in his eye “Arturo de Bull”—passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Park City, Utah, at the age of 86. He was born on August 19, 1939, in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Grant Livingston Davis and Ruth Davenport Davis, and his siblings Norman Davis and Barbara Johnson. He is survived by his devoted wife Daniele Davis; his daughter Chandra Davis Almstedt and son-in-law Douglas Almstedt; his son Grant Livingston Davis II; and his beloved granddaughter Daniela.
Art grew up in Dover, NH, where he attended Dover High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in physics and later an MBA from the University of New Hampshire. Notably, Art put himself through college by buying over 100 used cars and fixing them up before selling them again. To his mother’s “delight” many of these auto trading/mechanical repair activities happened in his parents’ driveway.
He began his career as a rocket engineer at Pratt & Whitney, contributing to the development of the rocket boosters for the Space Shuttle program. Later, Art applied his engineering aptitude and entrepreneurial spirit to a highly successful career in home development, building more than 975 apartments, condominiums, and single-family homes throughout New Hampshire, Naples and Marco Island, Florida.
In 1971, at Hampton Beach, Art met the love of his life, Daniele, beginning a partnership that spanned over 54 years. Together they shared a life filled with laughter, travel, friends and family. Art and Daniele enjoyed 3 beautiful and distinct chapters first living in Dover, NH and then ~25 years each in Naples, FL and Park City, UT. While in Naples, Art engaged in civic service that included the Naples Rotary Club, Naples Chamber of Commerce, and Collier County Builders Association.
A lifelong skiing enthusiast, Art skied an astounding 100 days during his 81st year, and he delighted in welcoming friends and family to his Park City homes for memorable ski vacations. In his later years, he treasured time spent with his granddaughter Daniela, listening to music, embraced his passion for reading – many days reading an entire book a day – and enjoyed puttering in the yard of his beautiful Pinebrook home.
During his final years, Art was lovingly cared for by Daniele, Chandra, and Doug, with the invaluable support of caregiver Pauline “Polly” Miller. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Polly for the joy, compassion, and fun she brought into Art’s life.
Art was known for his generosity, genuine curiosity about others, his colorful storytelling, and his endearing humor. He loved sharing tales of his idyllic childhood in New England with his siblings and cousin Richard, always painting pictures of a life well-lived.
Art will be cremated, and his ashes will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover, New Hampshire, at a date to be determined in 2026. His spirit, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts and stories of all who knew him.
In Loving Memory
TO THE FAMILY: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4. God promises to remove not only the pain and suffering that afflict humans today but also the root cause of these problems.
