Atanacio Carlos Gomez

November 19, 1930 - October 29, 2016

Born on November 19th, 1930 in New Mexico to Antonio and Gregorita Ulibarri Gomez. He died on October 29th, 2016 at home.

He enlisted in the Army/Air Force served in Korean Conflict for eight years. Moved to Salt Lake City to be close to his brother, Max. Worked for Delvies Plastics for 30 plus years. In 1989 he married Gerri Hecht. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Ann Catholic Church where he attended daily Mass and ushered. He was also active in Legion of Mary, CCD, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Survived by his wife; sisters-in-law Judith, Rebecca, Stella and Jennie; brother-in-law Larry (Ashlee Temple) Hecht; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Community Nursing Services Hospice over the last three years including Nursey Nurse, Jimmy J, Rubber Lady, and My Lili. Also special thank you to the many family and friends, too many to mention, who supported us through this period.

Friends and family may gather at 10:30 AM, with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:30 AM, Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM all on Friday, November 4th at St. Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, South Salt Lake. Committal will be held at 3:30 PM at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kearns St. Ann School or your favorite charity.
