“Gone dancing with the stars”

Gene was born March 5th, 1925 and passed away on February 11th, 2009 after a brief illness at age 83.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Gene was a very stylish lady and had a flair for beauty and color which she put to use when she opened her dress shop, “Genie’s Fashions”, in California.  Later in life she focused her talents on painting which she has shared with her family.  She had a quick wit and had many friends who enjoyed spending time with her.

Gene is survived by her son Steve (D’Ann) Sokol; daughter Madge Garofolo; daughter-in-law Dawn Sokol; and sister Fern MaComb.  Gene was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

Gene is preceded in death by her first husband Richard Sokol; second husband Peter Sappier; and son Dick Sokol.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 17th from 9:30 to 10:30 in the morning at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.  Private graveside service will follow at Camp Williams Veteran Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale.

In Loving Memory

Dear Steve, D'Ann, Midge, Dawn and Families, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear Mother. Aunt Gene was always one of my favorites in the family. Being around her was just a delight and she had such a great sense of humor and it was totally infectious. I know how difficult it is losing your Mother and how long the "missing her" goes on in life. I wish I were able to come by today and sit-in on a few stories, but work obligations will not allow me that privilege. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers--and give each other a hug. Thinking of you, Toni
