Barbara Jean Vogel passed away on December 4th in the arms of her loving husband and is now in heaven and enjoying the presence of our lord.
Barbara was born August 20, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Lena Schoudel.
Barbara was educated St. Williboard High School in Roseland, Illinois and graduated at the age of 16, because of family needs she never followed her dream of a college education, life got in her way.
One day while working for Calumet Index Newspaper she saw Eddies photo in the sports section as a star high school basketball player and told her friends someday she was going to marry him. Well as the lord would have it, they met soon thereafter, fell in love and married.
Barbara married Edward Vogel September 12, 1959 in Chicago (Roseland) and started what was to be a family of four children.
Barbara and Eddie were known for their ability to light up the dance floor with the Jitter Bug and Barbara's favorite dance music was In The Mood by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
As life would have it circumstances changed and Barbara's brother Jim Schoudel moved to Salt Lake City to pursue a new life of family, work and adventure and before they knew it Edward moved to Salt Lake too.
In May 1972 Barbara loaded up the family with help from her mother and drove the 1,800 miles to Salt Lake to join her husband Eddie.
A couple of years later Barbara's mother and father left Chicago to join them in Salt Lake City where they lived until their passing.
Barbara and Edward are the parents of four children and five grandchildren.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her son Daniel and is survived by her husband Edward (Eddie), daughters Colleen Trayner, Karen Eardley and son John Vogel. Grandchildren Mia, Ryan, Nathan, Skylar and Abby.

Barbara and Eddie were members of the Copper Club for twenty plus years where they made many wonderful lifelong friends.
Barbara worked for Laird Telemation, Theatre Candy Company and the Granite School District where she retired after 20 plus years service.
One of Barbara's favorite social groups was called the Ditzy Chicks where they played cards, traveled and shared their thoughts, wishes and desires with each other through thick and thin.
Barbara was loved by everyone that had the luck to meet her, to meet Barbara was to love her! Barbara's love for her family and friends was expressed in so many different ways, a kind ear, a loving embrace, a sweet smile and the wisdom of her years.
Barbara and her family were active members of Saint Thomas More Catholic Parish and will be sincerely missed.
A private Mass will be held for family members only and a celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor located at 3651 South 900 East on December 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and all who knew and loved her are welcomed to attend and honor her life.

To Barb's loving famiy, I feel so blessed to know Barb. All the time spent in her loving company is precious time, indeed. She was my Mom's dearest friend, among a group of women who are all so very dear. I know that the great empty spot left in Barb's passing is filled with the love and fond memories she has left us as her parting gifts. Though she will be missed, she will surely not be forgotten. There will never be anyone like my friend Barbara. You could tell her any secret and she would keep it. You could ask her any favor and she would do it. I have loved and trusted her for years. No one ever had a more and loving and dependable friend. I will never forget the years we worked together. She was always thinking of others. I remember that I was allowed to raid her desk at work for crackers and peanut butter when I had to work late. She kept them there knowing I would be hungry after hours. She personally made 15 blankets last Christmas because I wanted to give them to an "Early Head Start" program. So she sewed like crazy for two weeks to get them ready. I cannot even express how much I will miss her. Her smile will always be in my memory.

My condolences go out to your family. As you prepare to lay your loved one to rest, may you find comfort from your Bible at Psalms 34:18. ? HE? is close to the brokenhearted and crushed in spirit." This verse has helped me when dealing with the loss of loves ones.
