Benedetto Frank Stabile
August 2, 1921 - March 19, 2008
My husband Ben has passed away. He died the afternoon of March 19th, 2008 at the age of 86. We were married 32 years.
He was born August 2nd, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to Maria Russo and Benedetto Stabile. After graduating from Howe Military School he proudly served our country as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Ben fought under Generals Patton and Bradley at Eisenhower Headquarters. His most memorable experience of WWII was parachuting out of an airplane into Normandy.
He married me, Roma Wood, at my home in San Diego. Ben enjoyed meandering with me on road trips; woodworking; reading; writing fantastic letters, although we usually needed a dictionary; and cooking amazing food. He was happily committed to me and our family. Ben was honorable, informed, kind and generous.
His life and service to our country will be honored at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park Chapel 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Riverton on Wednesday, April 2nd at 2:00pm under the direction of Starks Funeral Parlor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VA Hospital of Salt Lake City.

Roma, Jackie and I were very saddened to hear about the passing of our friend. Memories of the holidays we all spent together over the years will always be some of our fondest. I always enjoyed the good-natured arguements with Ben over who would carve the turkey. Of course, he always won, and of course I was always happy to have somebody else do the carving! You and Ben are two of the best people we have ever known. Love, Michael and Jackie

We were only neighbors for 3 years. Long enough to know what a sweet couple Ben and Roma were. On of the first things we did in the morning was look out our bedroom window to see if Ben and Roma's were ok. We feel blessed to have know them for three years. Bye Ben

Dear Roma, Quite by accident, I just discovered that Brother Ben died. Though I hadn't seen Brother Ben for years, he was a man amongst men, a man of honor, and my friend. Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for the loss of such a loved friend. Brother Bill

Only just today 8/6/09 did the sad news of my old neighbor and friend reach my ears, I remember fighting with Ben to not climb the ladder to fix the swamp cooler for you and him. Also sitting on the back porch having a beer and letting the world go by. Hey ya Gene! still rings in my ear as I fondly hear his voice. I still think of the both of you Roma. Love Gene
