Benito Z. Lozano

Benito Z. Lozano, Jr. 85, of Salt Lake City, died on June 9, 2024
He was born in Bingham Canyon, Utah in 1938 to Benito and Phyllis Lozano. Graduated from Bingham High School and immediately went to work at the Kennecott Copper Mine. He married Lucy Montoya in October of 1979. They were married for nearly 45 years. He retired from Kennecott after 40 years of service. Ben had a beautiful voice and was a talented guitarist. He would sing “Las Mananitas” to Lucy on her birthday. His gentle and kind spirit will never be forgotten.
Benito was preceded in death by his father, Benito Lozano, Sr.; mother, Phyllis Rodriguez; brother, Julian Lozano; sister, Dolores Cordova; and Grandson, Benny Lozano.
He is survived by wife, Lucy; sons: Ben, Albert, Danny, and David Lozano; stepsons: Larry, Michael, and Robert Montoya; sisters: Esther Lozano, Francis Barjas, Lupe (Victor) Diaz, Jennie Palmer, Toni Lozano, Mary (Art) Degado; and brothers: Jesse (Lucila) Lozano, Roger (Lucille) Lozano, Max (Elaine) Lozano, Albert (Betty) Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He loved his family very much.
A rosary and vigil will be held on Friday, June 14th at 6-8 PM at St. Vincent de Paul, 1385 E Spring Ln, Salt Lake City.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 15th at 10:30 AM, also at St. Vincent de Paul. Entombment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
