Beth Waller Epperson
February 17, 1927 - September 20, 2024
“Joy and rejoicing in our posterity” – If any words could sum up the life of Beth Waller Epperson and her husband Bob, it would be these. Beth Alice Waller Epperson passed away on September 20, 2024.
Beth was born February 17, 1927 to Mabel Elizabeth Jansson and Newell Bell Waller in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Robert John Epperson on August 29, 1947. They had two children: Robert Hampton Epperson and Elizabeth Epperson Mitchell. Together they left a wonderful legacy of love and laughter.
From the very beginning, she was small in stature but larger than life. Beth loved life and loved people. After living through the Great Depression as a child, she knew the importance of living within her means, yet she was always so generous with others. Family was paramount to Beth. Cherishing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to the fullest, she never forgot a birthday and was present for every hallmark event in their lives. Beth was blessed with a remarkable memory and could remember names, dates, events, and even addresses from her childhood through her adult life.
Beth lived an adventurous 97 years. She and Bob traveled the world and made countless friends. They served many patron temple missions in St. George, Utah and served a full-time mission in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She even owned her own knitting business – the “Knit Wits”.
Although she and Bob loved to travel, their favorite place in the world was Holiday Park where they own cabins in the High Uintah Mountains. She called it her “special place on earth” and they spent 67 wonderful summers there with family.
Beth was never idle. She loved to knit, sew, quilt, scrapbook, read, walk, swim, golf, and travel – she lived life to the fullest and found joy in serving others. Many are the beneficiaries of her hand-knit Christmas stockings, baby sweaters, and quilts. She donated over 1,000 quilts to many organizations.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elayne, her husband Robert, son Robert Hampton Epperson, grandson Robert Hampton Epperson Jr, and granddaughter Elise Zabriskie Mitchell. She is survived by her sister Janet Topham, brother Joseph Waller, daughter Elizabeth (Max Mitchell), her grandchildren Patricia (Steve Jorgensen), Max E. (Lana), Andrew (Jeni), Scott, Anthony (Andrea), Erin (Rod), Rebecca Bennett, A.J. Epperson, James (Linzi), and Thomas (Hannah), and 38 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Thursday, September 26th 2024 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Starks located at 3651 South 900 East in Salt Lake City, Utah.
